Travel Fees
Travel fees may apply in addition to the above base price. The fee will be determined by the length of time it takes for me to get from my home to yours. Since I keep my travel fees low (just enough to cover my gas expenses going 1 way), that even if multiple people are having a massage at your home, the charge will be applied to each person. This helps with paying for my gas to come home, and for my time to do the driving.
The way that I determine which fee will be charged, is I use google maps. If it shows multiple ways to get to your home, I will take the average time. I won’t time how long it takes be because I know for the first couple of times that I go to a new address, I drive a little slower, and hey who hasn’t accidentally made a wrong turn or driven past a person’s driveway before or didn’t realize that there was going to be construction starting on the day of your appointment? I don’t want to penalize anyone for that, so I believe that this is the most fair way.
0-19 minutes – There will be no travel fees added. This is for Alfred, Plantagenet, Wendover and parts of Hawkesbury to name a few.
20-39 minutes – There will be a $5 fee added. This would be for the rest of Hawkesbury, most of Rockland, Maxville, St. Isadore…
40-60 minutes – There will be a $10 fee added. This would be for the rest of Rockland, Ottawa, Alexandria, Limoges…
61-80 minutes – There will be a $15 fee added. This would be for Barrhaven, Cornwall, Stittsville…
*The above prices all include HST and will be added to your Insurance receipt. I can’t guarantee that your insurance will cover the travel fee. Please call your insurance and inquire.
*All above locations are examples of locations that fit within those timeframes. I will confirm the cost of the travel fees prior to booking your massage with you.
Insurance Companies
If you have private or work insurance that covers massage, you will get an Insurance receipt. This will be after you pay for the massage and you can claim it through your insurance, which most can direct deposit it into your account within a few business days. I currently don’t do direct billing for these types of insurance.
*Before you book your first massage it is best to know if you need to have a doctors referral for you to claim your massage sessions. To find this out you must call your insurance company, as each company is a bit different, and I won’t have this information myself.
If you don’t have any insurance, or your insurance doesn’t cover the entire amount, make sure you keep your receipt in your records. At the end of the year you can claim it as a medical expense. You do need to have a certain amount of medical expenses before it can affect your income taxes. You can ask your accountant what that percentage is. I know several years ago it was anything over 3% of your total income you could claim on your income taxes, but it may have changed by now so don’t take my word for it, as I’m not an accountant.
Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance
If you’ve been in an accident and we can get you approved for massage, your insurance will cover everything. I do direct billing for this type of insurance (meaning that I submit the invoice to your adjuster) at the end of every month. There are no out of pocket expenses and is hassle free.
Depending on what category of injury you are in, the price of the service is different from the prices that you have seen above. This is because these prices are preset for the massage sessions. Also they do have additional fees that may be applied that aren’t applied during one of my Private Massage Therapy Sessions, and these are calculated by their service rate and how much time it takes to complete the tasks. So if you do have your massages with me while under an MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident) claim, and you continue with me even after the claim has been completed, the prices will go back to the prices that I’ve stated at the top of this page.
Medavie Blue Cross
This covers a few different types of insurance, where I can do direct billing and you don’t have to worry about any of it. For me to do direct billing all I’ll need to have is your ID number with your organization, and possibly a policy number; your prescription from a doctor or nurse practitioner; and if you’ve had a few sessions earlier in the year with the total number as certain organizations only approve for so many massages and an extension may be needed.
The following insurance organizations are the ones that I can do direct billing for:
- Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)
- Medavie Blue Cross / Blue Cross
- Saskatchewan Blue Cross
- Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
- Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)
Medavie Blue Cross, much like the Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance companies, they have a preset total for the massage sessions and other services, like reports. This means if you run out of sessions with your insurance provider, listed above, and they don’t approve an extension and you want to continue doing the massages, the prices at the top of the page will be what is charged, not the total that was initially being billed. At that same point for as long as you are covered by your insurance provider, listed above, no additional fees will be charged to you.
If I get approved for any other programs with insurance companies, I will update it here. But if you have any other questions please let me know by clicking Contact Me.
