My name is Kimberley Turnbull, and I’ve been a Registered Massage Therapist since August 16, 2011. I’ve always had a passion for helping others. When I was 14, I was introduced to Massage Therapy through a trades presentation at school, and I’ve never looked back.
Since becoming registered, I’ve taken courses in Hot Stone Therapy, Thai Yoga Massage for Elderly and those who are Pregnant, as well as my certificate in Pregnancy Massage and Postpartum Massage. Additionally, I’m an Internationally Certified Infant Massage teacher, since July 6, 2019, through the Liddlekidz Foundation. In the future I wish to attend courses for reflexology and more advanced forms of Lymphatic Drainage.
In all the years I’ve been a Registered Massage Therapist, I have to say, I still love it just as much as the day I started. Seeing my clients smile, when they leave the massage room makes all the work worth it. And knowing they are feeling better then when they came in for the most part. Sometimes treatment isn’t fun while receiving it, but so worth it in the long run.
I am offering classes for parents to learn how to massage their babies. I can help them feel more confident in themselves, and getting to hear all the giggling and cooing of the babies, makes me more excited then I could ever explain.
I have learned through my journey, that this part of health care has been overlooked, even though it’s beneficial to people. I have watched it work on family and friends, even with only a single treatment they already feel better; not necessarily 100%, but still better. And there are many times that we don’t know that we’re in pain, because our brains are great and powerful things that make us adapt to pretty much anything. This allowing us to continue our daily activities without being aware of our daily stressors, that unfortunately one day will catch up to us. With massage, it can help make us more aware of our own bodies and help with correcting the things we put ourselves through, like poor posture from working on computers, or someone who stands all day long at a cash register.
All in all, my biggest goal is to make people aware of what massage can do for them and others. Massage isn’t just for relaxation, or only used to to ‘spoil’ yourself. There isn’t a person in the world who couldn’t benefit in some way from massage, whether they are a newborn, to a person who has asthma, or someone who is terminally ill.
Massage is a type of therapy. It is part of our health care, and well being, and is as important as other therapies. I am a health care professional, and it is my goal to help you get back to being the best you that you can be.
